Non-residents pulled a record amount from Brazil bonds in December
Non-resident holdings of Brazilian domestic government debt fell by BRL61bn in December, to BRL711bn from BRL772bn, a drop of nearly 8%. This drawdown was seen after two months of strong inflows from non-residents in both October and November (BRL30bn and BRL 47bn, respectively). The outflows in December were concentrated in fixed rate (BRL39bn) and floating rate instruments (BRL22bn).
