FX Watch – Elections in Poland could pave the way for a stronger PLN

Publication attachments

On Sunday 15 October, Poland celebrated parliamentary elections in what turned out to be a highly contested ballot. Law and Justice (PiS), which has ruled in Poland since 2015, won the most votes in the election but failed to obtain an absolute majority. The results open the door for the opposition bloc to form a new government, as the three parties combined obtained more than 54% of the votes cast. Such a scenario would be a key positive for both, the PLN and Polish equities.
