Agustín Martin is the Head of European Credit Research for BBVA, based in London. Agustín joined BBVA in October 2005, after finishing his Master’s degree in electrical engineering; he had previously worked in the Spanish Utilities sector. At BBVA, he has held various roles within the European Credit Research team, including research analyst in structured credit and investment-grade industrial corporates. Since 2010, he has headed up covered bond, SSA and green research.
He is one of the most highly regarded analysts within the Southern European covered bond space, which includes, amongst others, Spanish cedúlas. He is a frequent panellist and collaborator with Bloomberg, AFME, Global Capital, IFLR and the specialised media on areas such as covered bonds, ESG research and Iberian SSAs. He holds a degree in electrical engineering from the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas, granted in 2001 and an MsC in advanced econometrics and statistics applied to electrical engineering granted in 2004 from the same university.
